Daniel Molkentin,
if the changes in Stefan Brüns
https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/581052
are o.k. for you, I would accept his submitrequest
which means you could also accept it directly.
We provided Ghostscript with its resources as separated
files (i.e. with --disable-compile-inits enabled)
all the time in the past up to September 2015 when I changed that
and I cannot remember any issues before September 2015
so that from my point of view --disable-compile-inits
should be also o.k. regarding maintenance effort.
I only wonder if a self contained Ghostscript
may work faster, cf. "My current reasoning" in
https://ghostscript.com/pipermail/gs-devel/2015-September/009815.html
