Requested picture of problem

As you can see, there is no menu, so no "device" entry. I'm aware of the
procedure to create a partition table, I have been using this program for
years. It is simply impossible.

Steps to reproduce:

login to xfce as plain user
start xfce terminal
su -
gparted

Installation is simply a new install under vmware player, using build0289 iso
image, and later issuing "zypper dup --no-allow-vendor-change", which I will
try again in a minute.
