The kernel versions with the problem are:
4.11.5-1 and 4.11.6-1, probably also some earlier versions, but not before June
Was the last working one already 4.11.x, or 4.10.x? You can check the zypper installation history from the log.
At the moment I can't reset the device, but I can provide the message a older kernel now shows:
[ 4.165943] i8042: Can't read CTR while initializing i8042 [ 4.166074] i8042: probe of i8042 failed with error -5
Thsee messages can be ignored. The Baytrail / Cherrytrail devices have no i8042 serial connection so the kernel used to show this error message in the past. The recent kernels don't probe the i8042 in a fixed way but rely on ACPI setup, hence the message disappeared.
A other possibility would be a hardware defect, but the device is quite new.
You can try the older kernel from my repo, e.g. OBS home:tiwai:kernel:4.10. If it works, we still have a hope. If you get a working kernel again, please get dmesg output on both working and non-working cases. BTW, is this only about the built-in keyboard, or doesnt even USB keyboard work? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
