Bug ID: 1046571
Summary: Virtualbox guest kmp broken on 32 bit Tumbleweed -
gcc7 issue
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed
Version: Current
Hardware: x86
OS: SUSE Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Virtualization:Other
Assignee: virt-bugs@xxxxxxx
Reporter: AxelKoellhofer@xxxxxx
QA Contact: qa-bugs@xxxxxxx
Found By: ---
Blocker: ---

Running openSUSE Tumbleweed i586 with kernel 4.11.x as a guest, module
"voboxguest.ko" from virtualbox-guest-kmp refuses to load with the following
error.

Unknown symbol __udivmoddi4 (err 0)

After some research, I found this bug report for Archlinux indicating this
problems also exists for "vboxdrv.ko" and is related to gcc7.

https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/54252

See also:

https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/16772

I was able to build working versions of the guest modules by using the patch
mentioned in

https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/54252#comment158744

but I can not test host modules (vboxdrv) as I do not have a host running 32bit
Tumbleweed.

Greetings,

AK
