I am sorry, my arrow was in the wrong direction, actually
/tmp is the directory
/var/tmp is symlinked to /tmp

For me t(e)mp(orary) is the opposite of persistent and if such is neccessary it
will be recreated upon boot. PrivateTmp hints another meaning.

I wonder why systemd creates e.g.
/tmp/systemd-private-7cf74f122e9c4ebdbdf5a0d5bfaa26bb-ntpd.service-wCj5E7/tmp/
as well as
/var/tmp/systemd-private-7cf74f122e9c4ebdbdf5a0d5bfaa26bb-ntpd.service-2VAXE3/tmp/

which for mee seem redundant. Analogue directories are created for apache and
rtkit-daemon
