I'm afraid I cannot tell why it insists on mounting read-write - this was in
original RH patch already. OTOH it is well known that even read-only mount may
change on-disk state for some filesystems (and I think btrfs is one of them).
Which means we should not really attempt to use kernel mount ever. We can use
grub-mount to access btrfs, but it requires some way to list subvolumes;
subvolume mount can probably be emulated then. I am not aware of tool that can
do it for unmounted btrfs.
