[Bug 904300] Weird question marks on bootsplash

This can also be seen in the autoinst-log.txt logfiles, e.g. https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/408892/file/autoinst-log.txt shows the qemu command line "/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 -serial file:serial0 -soundhw ac97 -global isa-fdc.driveA= -vga cirrus ..." but please be advised that the issue is not limited to the openQA virtual machines.
