Richard, the upstream developer thinks this latest GCC 7 failure (error:
dereferencing type-punned pointer will break strict-aliasing rules
[-Werror=strict-aliasing]) is a case of

Well, that specific bug was fixed already (for GCC7 I included a patch in the
gcc7 package that's currently in Staging:C).

Seems to be building again right now so I'll wait until ceph is confirmed to
still fail. If it works now yes, "confirmed" as GCC issue.
