You can try the remote access and trigger sysrq-t for checking which process is
handing what. But I guess it won't show up if it's a silent GPU hang.

In anyway, the driver you're testing now will be obsoleted sooner or later once
when drm-kmp is deployed. The submission was taken in this morning.

You can test drm-kmp found in OBS home:tiwai:sandbox:leap-42.3/drm repo, which
is built for the kernel in openSUSE:Leap:42.3. (It might not work to create a
weak update-link for other kernels.)
