Correct, legacy functionality like desktop or tray icons are not supported in GNOME Wayland, nor does upstream have any plans of porting them to wayland.
I guess that means GNOME is going to cease being a desktop environment. Sad to see this trend of removing functionality that has been available and happily used by many (the majority of users even) for a decade and more. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
