Bug ID: 1022070
Summary: Lightdm greeter not working correctly when system is
set to a non-utf8 language
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE Distribution
Version: Leap 42.2
Hardware: x86-64
OS: openSUSE 42.2
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Other
Assignee: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Reporter: andreas.schuette@xxxxxxxxxx
QA Contact: qa-bugs@xxxxxxx

Blocker: ---

After disabling UTF-8 in the YaST language module, the lightdm greeter is
showing a rather strange behaviour.

The user specific language is set manually via .dmrc:
[Desktop]
language=de_DE
Session=fvwm2

It looks like the greeter can't figure out what to do with that language and is
instead selecting the first one in his list. Thus overriding the language with
aa_DJ.utf8 everytime a user is logging in.
Another strange thing is, that the .dmrc file seems to read before overridden,
because the first login is still using de_DE although the value of language has
been changed to aa_DJ.utf8. This only takes effect at the following logins of
that user.
