I was able to reproduce it and got some information out using the qemu serial
console. It seems that X server crashes (and then the screen looks hang). It
crashes if mouse is moving some time near the end of the installation (even
before the reboot countdown appears).

The backtrace (without debug information right now) points to something related
to input:
