http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1001758 Bug ID: 1001758 Summary: print a low memory warning as early as possible Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: All OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation Assignee: yast2-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: msuchanek@suse.com QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- It might be nice if installer printed a warning when the system has too little memory to run the installer. I tried to install on a system with 256MB memory. Linuxrc would run and complain it cannot bring up the network. I could not run a shell from the linuxrc menu and the shells which were supposed to autostart on other virtual terminals did not. It was network install so it stopped there. It is understandable that to simplify the development components from the full system are used and there are no special installer packages with limited features to save up space. Then the installer requires quite a bit of memory to run. It would save me a WTF moment if linuxrc put up a warning that the system has loo little memory and the installation can fail before complaining about the network. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
