Bug ID: 982090
Summary: pmap: showing entries twice partially
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed
Version: Current
Hardware: Other
OS: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Basesystem
Assignee: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Reporter: matz@xxxxxxxx
QA Contact: qa-bugs@xxxxxxx

I don't know since when this happens, I just noticed now on my tumbleweed
system. Look e.g. at this output of pmap:

...
0000000000400000 884 828 103 0 0 r-xp- /bin/bash
0000000000400000 0 0 103 0 0 r-xp- /bin/bash <X
00000000006dd000 4 4 4 4 0 r--p- /bin/bash
00000000006dd000 0 0 4 0 0 r--p- /bin/bash <X
00000000006de000 16 16 16 16 0 rw-p- /bin/bash
00000000006de000 0 0 16 0 0 rw-p- /bin/bash <X
...

Every second line (those marked with <X) repeat the information from the line
above, except that most numbers except PSS are reset to zero. Address, PSS,
access rights and file name are the same. This happens for all processes and
all mappings, i.e. all lines in pmap output, e.g. for [anon]:

00007f93062f0000 8 8 8 8 0 rw-p- [ anon ]
00007f93062f0000 0 0 8 0 0 rw-p- [ anon ]

The mapping files the kernel provides are correct. E.g. for the above process
/proc/$$/maps:

00400000-004dd000 r-xp 00000000 00:25 438607 /bin/bash
006dd000-006de000 r--p 000dd000 00:25 438607 /bin/bash
006de000-006e2000 rw-p 000de000 00:25 438607 /bin/bash
... (no further /bin/bash entries) ...
7f93062f0000-7f93062f2000 rw-p 00000000 00:00 0
... (no mappings listed at the same address) ...

The smaps is also showing the correct entries (I'll spare the detailed
numbers):
00400000-004dd000 r-xp 00000000 00:25 438607 /bin/bash
Size: 884 kB
Rss: 828 kB
Pss: 103 kB
...
006dd000-006de000 r--p 000dd000 00:25 438607 /bin/bash
Size: 4 kB
Rss: 4 kB
Pss: 4 kB
...
006de000-006e2000 rw-p 000de000 00:25 438607 /bin/bash
Size: 16 kB
Rss: 16 kB
Pss: 16 kB
...

So, it's some bug in pmap showing doubled entries.
