--- Comment #2 from Stakanov Schufter ---
Install is a Leap 42.1 install from scratch.
Printer is branched local via USB.
Same setup (hardware, connector etc) is working on the same machine (dual boot)
with tumbleweed without problem.
Note: only anomaly when printout fail in e.g. libreoffice, you are not proposed
the print to file as alternative (although okular is installed).
A complete force update of all package for cups, sane and ghostscript did not
change a thing.
The print from yast with testpage works problem free. In the queue you will
find the aborted job from previous attemps as "filter failed".
So, let us see:

Printing from Libreoffice fails. Setting "automatic to pdf"
gives a long list of the same error:
QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 3
QPainter::save: Painter not active
QPainter::setRenderHint: Painter must be active to set rendering hints
QPainter::setBrush: Painter not active
QPainter::setPen: Painter not active
QPainter::translate: Painter not active
QPainter::restore: Unbalanced save/restore
QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 3
QPainter::save: Painter not active
QPainter::setRenderHint: Painter must be active to set rendering hints
QPainter::setBrush: Painter not active
QPainter::setPen: Painter not active
QPainter::translate: Painter not active
QPainter::restore: Unbalanced save/restore
QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 3
and so on.
Printing fails.
Printing with "Postscript - livello dal driver"
Color 24 bit
this is also a fail. Nothing happens, filter fails.
Error message is identical (reading this from CLI when starting libreoffice
from CLI.
I tried then the direct export to pdf from libreoffice but interestingly it
fails (produces a file that ocular cannot open).
Tried to open with carbon and it complains that the it is "impossible to create
the filter extension".
GIMP 2.8 fails to open the file with "unknown file tipe".
Please tell me how to obtain any further information if you need it, as I
followed (and exhausted) the link you gave me.
