Andreas Stieger
It is tumbleweed. [...] It is "YAST online update" (or, in German, "Online-Aktualisierung") which finds no updates.
The openSUSE package stack knows two kinds of updates: A) online updates supplied via the maintenance process for stable releases, e.g. bug fixes and security fixes, received via the update repositories. These are installed via YaST online update, "zypper patch" etc. B) newer packages, e.g. when using a build service repository. They are NOT installed by YaST online update or zypper patch, but by zypper up, dup and YaST software management, of so desired. A stable openSUSE release does not, by default, even have these. openSUSE Tumleweed is a rolling distribution, this means it's main repository is moving, and there are no* maintenance updates in the classical sense. (There is an online update repository reserved for emergencies, used rarely) That means that all openSUSE Tumbleweed ever sees is newer packages, and some update notification icons chose to notify. But since these are not "online updates" with patch descriptions, YaST Online Update does not show them. It is a known confusion due to the rolling nature of openSUSE Tumbleweed. But it also means that the behavior described in the bug is indeed expected. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
