http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=943793 Bug ID: 943793 Summary: Emacs cannot use X fonts Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 201505* Hardware: x86-64 OS: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: mjambor@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:39.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/39.0 Build Identifier: After I upgraded my Tumbleweed system today (after approximately 20 days), I could not run X11 (or GTK) emacs because I have a font defined in my X resources. This can be reproduced by running: $ emacs-x11 -fn '-*-fixed-medium-r-normal-*-16-*-*-*-*-*-iso10646-*' Font `-*-fixed-medium-r-normal-*-16-*-*-*-*-*-iso10646-*' is not defined The font is present because xfontsel can see and display it and my terminal rxvt-unicode also can display it as before. Only emacs cannot and I had to remove the font from my X resource file. When I run emacs-x11 and attempt to select a different font via menu-bar (Options->Set Default Font), emacs never succeeds. emacs-gtk can select a font but I do not know how to get the unicode variant I need. And I would very much prefer to get the X-resource way of selecting fonts back. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. run emacs-x11 -fn '-*-fixed-medium-r-normal-*-16-*-*-*-*-*-iso10646-*' Actual Results: Emacs fils to start with message: Font `-*-fixed-medium-r-normal-*-16-*-*-*-*-*-iso10646-*' is not defined Expected Results: Emacs starts and uses the requested font. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
