http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=934266 Bug ID: 934266 Summary: open-vm-tools crash the machine – especially after running an update procedure in Yast Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 201505* Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: clauses@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 637383 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=637383&action=edit Screenshot I’m running Tumbleweed updated to latest versions, but I keep getting these crashes of the machine – especially shortly after running Yast to check for updates, running zypper up from the commandline, running Gnome Package Updater, or waking the VM from suspension. I have the Tumbleweed installation installed in a VM in VMware Fusion 7.1.1 (Mac). The error messages is always the same: [ 2061.NNNNNN ] [drm:vmw_generic_ioctl [vmwgfx]] *ERROR* Dropped master trying to access ioctl that requires authentication. This error appears, repeating itself, but in varying frequency from incident to incident. Sometime I can manage to shift to another TTY, login to root and reboot. Other times the messages are so fast I can only restart the VM (please see attached screenshot). NB: I am running the latest Tumbleweed Gnome when this happens, but I have to login using Gnome under Xorg, because in Wayland the open-vm-tools does not let me change the screen resolution to the actual resolution (it doesn’t exist under Wayland), not does the dynamic adaptive adjustment of resolution work. Since this issue with Wayland is also present in eg. Fedora 22 running as a VM in VMware Fusion, I have reported it to the open-vmware-tools github: https://github.com/vmware/open-vm-tools/issues/22 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
