Then speakers will be muted if headphones are plugged in and will be unmuted if headphones are plugged out. There is no need for any sound component to change the volume of speakers or headphones since auto-mute feature does the work. There must be a bug in the component which tries to emulate / implement the auto-mute feature by manipulating volume settings.
