I was playing with Virtualbox trying to reproduce the issue, so I connected the
phone via the usb cable and then attaching/detaching the device to the virtual
machine (while keeping it physically connected).
If I do this, when I detach the device, then it works in the real system.
/var/log/messages contains the following lines, starting from the previous
