https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=876608 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=876608#c0 Summary: xdvi uses bitmap fonts if dvipsDownloadBase35 false Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mjr19@cam.ac.uk QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 If dvipsDownloadBase35 false in /etc/texmf/web2c/updmap.cfg and updmap-sys is run, then xdvi is unable to find Type1 versions of the standard PostScript 35 fonts. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Edit /etc/texmf/web2c/updmap.cfg to have dvipsDownloadBase35 false 2. Run updmap-sys 3. latex a file such as \documentclass{article} \usepackage{times} \begin{document} Hello \end{document} 4. run xdvi test.dvi Actual Results: xdvi starts generating pk fonts: kpathsea: Running mktexpk --mfmode etc. Expected Results: xdvi should use the installed Type 1 fonts as it did before. Adding the line p ps2pk.map to /usr/share/texmf/dvips/xdvi/config.xdvi solves the problem by making xdvi and dvips use different configuration files. Indeed, updmap's man page states "ps2pk.map Similar to psfonts.map file, but forces all fonts to be downloaded, so this map file can be used with xdvi(1) and ps2pk(1)." Strangely I had to run "updmap-sys --syncwithtrees" once, yet the map files claimed to have been generated by updmap. Not sure whether the bug is upstream. Am sure that someone will tell me that xdvi is used only by dinosaurs. Am aware of (many) alternatives. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
