OK, and what happens if you don't rename them?

Just try not to do this step:
3. During config, tell system what you want the NIC cards called (eth0/1)

With an absolutely vanilla install, it all works at first boot. enp0s25
communicated w/ the DHCP server and got an address.

Are there *any* ifcfg-* (even with wrong device names) files when done or
device configuration is missing at all?

enp0s35 has IP address

enp7s9 has no IPv4 address (I must assign it one now). It does have an IPv6
address (wonder how it knows that this is out of my block of IPv6 addresses
;-) )

lo is the loop back at


I have been able to assign enp7s9 a static IP.

And a reboot now works.
