I have managed to grab hold of some different (single ethernet port) PCIe
gigabit ethernet card, also with similar/same Realtek chipset, and this card
DOES get recognized and listed in both long PCIe 16x slots in Windows7 x64 and
uses same Realtek driver as the onboard Realtek ethernet chip, also when now
booting into rescue mode or install mode from opensuse 13.1/RC2/x64 usb key
also does list the two Realtek devices now properly with lspci (the onboard and
the single-ethernet in the PCIe 16x slots).

Is this Asus mainboard (firmware?) incompatible with the bridge chip of my
dual-gigabit-ethernet cards but ONLY when its plugged into the PCIe 16x slots?

Sigh :(
