It does autoreboot after stage 1 installation, but you're right -- I didn't see
it doing a stage 2 as it previously did.

I have /usr/lib/systemd/system/YaST2-Second-Stage.service and
/usr/lib/YaST2/startup/YaST2.Second-Stage files, so they were created.

"systemctl start YaST2-Second-Stage.service" fails, no reason given.

/usr/lib/systemd/system/YaST2-Second-Stage.service shows that it needs to start
"After=apparmor.service plymouth-start.service"

Checking status of these shows that plymouth-start.service has failed.

# systemctl status plymouth-start.service
Loaded: error (Reason: No such file or directory)
Active: inactive (dead)

plymouth is the bootsplash screen.

Looks like it's possible that since we use grub rather than grub2, and we're
running headless so there's no reason for a bootsplash screen, this caused
AutoYaST to fail.

Let me test this using grub2 and see if the second stage fires with grub2 in

Thanks for your help!
