I've just had a major filesystem corruption because of this. Back in SuSE 9.2
Linux used to just work...
Anyway it's essential to re-attach the missing disks and waiting for the sync
to finish before rebooting, or otherwise next time the *other* disk might be
the sole array and it's up the creek very quickly. My mistake was to not notice
the degraded array for a week.
all packagea are current (oS 12.1, but same problem).
I've put some more logging into place, and the symptoms are always that the md1
raid1 array (md0 for the root fs is never a problem) is randonmly created with
one disk, the other disk, both disks, or no disk. In the last case there's a
huge timeout (for mounting the non-existing disk) before entering emergency
mode.
