It's (from bugreports) never obvious whether the partitioning is result of the
automatic proposal or user's idea (and, sadly, the later is more common case).

Still, regarding boot (and here I'm sorry for my memory coming from Itanium
only): Did you boot (even via PXE) as legacy, or as uEFI? It actually makes a
difference, since if you boot legacy, the uEFI firmware is not enabled and e.g.
the EFI menu cannot be modified.

Re filesystem: I have no experience booting from btrfs; however, some
filesystems (e.g. XFS) are known to sometimes move data blocks, resulting in no
booting any more. That's why ext2 is recommended. Anyway, not related to EFI.

Steffen, can you check why the /boot/efi partition was not proposed after BL
