Jon, for EFI booting, you need a dedicated /boot/efi partition. According to
your comment, you don't have one, right? Then this bug is INVALID...

Even if you boot non-uEFI, you should have your boot area on ext2 (ideally);
using more complex filesystems is definitely a bad idea.
