https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=807190 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=807190#c0 Summary: os-prober fails to find Windows 8 on other disk, unless I mount EFI partition Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 12.3 Beta 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader AssignedTo: jsrain@suse.com ReportedBy: nrickert@ameritech.net QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=527859) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=527859) Output from "df" User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/534.34 (KHTML, like Gecko) rekonq/2.1 Safari/534.34 I installed opensuse 12.3 RC2 on a UEFI box. The install was on a separate hard drive. The generated grub2-efi configuration did not include an entry to boot Windows 8. I later discover that if I first mount the EFI partition from the Win8 hard drive, then os-prober finds Windows. Otherwise not. I mounted as "/mnt/efi" but mounting anywhere would probably have worked. Originally reported as comment 12 to bug 775610. I was asked to open a separate report. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. run "os-prober" as root, when the EFI partition for Window disk is not mounted. 2. 3. Actual Results: no output Expected Results: It should have given information about Windows 8 I am attaching 3 files: df.out - the output of the "df" command parted.out - the output of "parted -l" messages - the lines added to "/var/log/messages" from the time that I ran "os-prober". -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
