E.g. in Chapter 17.1 "Starting a Shell" the pdf says: If you want to give it a try, press [] + [] + [F2] to leave the graphical user interface interface. The graphical user interface disappears and you are taken to a shell which prompts you to log in. Type your username and press []. Then type your password and press []. The empty brackets in the exampe are meant to be Alt, Ctrl, Enter, and Enter, respectively. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. From the reference guide, section 1.5 Select one of the other options with the arrow keys and press to boot it. The relevant options are: (Expected: "press Enter to boot it.")
