After uisng Mozilla Thunderbird and somewhat also Firefox processes tend to sleep and won't awake again, possibly that have not been finished. Without seeing the TB window or FF window (visible) and trying to start TB or Firefox again, just reports that the process are running and cannot be opened. I also suspect that if the TB window is open after some use and time (pause) it is sleeping and don't wake up and contact the email IMAP server (GroupWise) Looking into the Gnome System monitor I can i.e see thunderbird sleeping 0 0 6214 do_wait thunderbird-bin sleeping 0 0 6220 futex_wait_queue_me By selecting those processes here and quit them, the application can be started again.
