[Bug 724917] Can't start gnucash ("Unknown option name: maxdepth")

--- Comment #75 from C. Andrews Lavarre <alavarre@xxxxxxxxx> 2012-01-31
04:12:31 UTC ---
Robert hello: I have now spent another time going through explicitly step by
step of Comment #53, again. IT DOES NOT WORK.

Please tell me what else I might do to help.

Kind regards, Andy

In the spirit of teamwork, I do this all over again following #53, all as root:

===== First step =====
Establish petr's repository, following #53

zypper ar

This fails, with

If only one argument is used, it must be a URI pointing to a .repo file.
addrepo (ar) [options] <URI> <alias>
addrepo (ar) [options] <file.repo>

So I go to yast2 sw_single and try using configuration to add the repo:

is already installed and enabled and autorefreshed.

(Obviously, this instructions should have read something ending in .repo but
whatever, it's fixed.)

===== 2nd step =====

Update the entire distribution:

zypper dup

This results in a host of errors, so we reboot and try again.

tm2t:~ # zypper dup
Warning: You are about to do a distribution upgrade with all enabled
repositories. Make sure these repositories are
compatible before you continue. See 'man zypper' for more information about
this command.

And it hangs here. Eventually we get:

Download (curl) error for
Error code: User abort
Error message: connect() timed out!

Abort, retry, ignore? [a/r/i/?] (a):

So we choose ignore. It then proceeds, including upgrades to aqbanking. And
runs to completion.

Now issuing gnucash as either user or root: No change:

ERROR: In procedure debug-options-interface:
