sudo lvextend -L +5G /dev/jon-0/root

semid 1212424: semop failed for cookie 0xd4d9ca3: incorrect semaphore state
Failed to set a proper state for notification semaphore identified by cookie
value 223190179 (0xd4d9ca3) to initialize waiting for incoming notifications.

With OpenSUSE 11.4 this worked fine. With the update to 12.1 I get the above
message when resizing a logical volume. The resize appears to be fine, but the
message is pretty scary.

Looks like this has shown up in Arch Linux as well:
