https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=726122 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=726122#c0 Summary: snapper walks the entire file system after creating snapshot Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: RC 1 Platform: All OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: schuetzm@gmx.net QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1 After a snapshot is created, snapper calls "compare-dirs", which goes through two entire snapshots. This could potentially be very expensive for large filesystems. Moreover, when you create several snapshots in a short time (e.g. by using "zypper install ..." several times in a row), "compare-dirs" is called for each one and doesn't wait for the previous instances to be finished, causing excessive io load. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. zypper install ... 2. zypper install ... 3. zypper install ... Actual Results: Several instances of "compare-dirs" are running simultaneously. Expected Results: "compare-dirs" should only be called when the file lists it generates are actually needed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
