When the lp kernel module is no longer loaded automatically
it is a regression in the kernel related area and accordingly
it should be solved there.
Whatever in the kernel related area still automatically loads
parport, parport_pc, and ppdev should also automatically
load lp to fix the regression in the kernel related area.
Whenever an "application" (from the kernel's point of view) package
deals with kernel modules the "application" package suddenly depends
in a particular way on the kernel version.
If udev-configure-printer implements it, udev-configure-printer
depends on the kernel version where lp module loading works
this way. In another kernel version lp module loading may work
different and then udev-configure-printer would have to implement
something different.
I assume Vincent Untz does not feel very happy about getting
a kernel version dependencey in udev-configure-printer and
I do not accept a kernel version dependency for cups.
