https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=712082 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=712082#c0 Summary: Parted silently ignores a given partition start Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: puzel@novell.com ReportedBy: pth@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: coolo@novell.com Found By: Development Blocker: --- I had accidently removed an entry in a partition table that was the main pv for my lvm setup. The partition started at 8801MB but when recreating the partition table entry parted ignored that and used 8802MB instead. When I passed him 8800MB which overlapped with the previous partition parted offered 8801MB as the next possible start and after accepting that warned that that woudn't be optimally aligned which you can then ignore. This behaviour is unacceptable as parted must ask whether you want to take the performance hit and only use the next optimal start if you tell it to do so. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
