2. What is the result of "pam-config -q --sss"?

3. Are you able to set your LDAP client using YaST2 GUI? There we can see if
there's not some missing option.

4. Some hint: call the command with 'sssd=no'. Or, in case you'd want to use
sssd, you need TLS support on the server.
