As far as I understand Unix/Linux/BSD philosophy, the /etc directory is for
storing the configuration files of the applications of system. Even some
configurations of the operative system itself.
I think that adding this directory to the list is not a good idea, as far as it
can be read by some wrong script, and the information being accessed from any
browser. But this is my opinion, I am not a security expert.
