With acpi=off added in the menu.lst boot options in the grub folder, this will
allow the DVD/CDROM to mount OK, and will allow Wireless networking using
NetworkManager to connect and work OK, but the Battery Power Status and the
Battery Power Manager are disabled and not are available.
acpi should be able to be used with all hardware functioning OK, as it did with
openSUSE 11.3 loaded on this Laptop.
Something seems to have changed in the way the kernel modules now interface
with acpi on this Laptop with openSUSE 11.4 loaded.
The DVD/CDROM, Wireless networking and Battery Power Manager are all important
hardware devices required for full functionality on a Laptop.
