--- Comment #6 from Joey Lee
I am using openSUSE 11.3, and will try kernel 2.6.39.1-33.1.
I just tried the 2.6.39.1-33.1 kernel from openSUSE_Tumbleweed repo, the easyport works fine to me on TravelMate 8572 machine. Cann't reproduce issue.
Hi Joey,
Thanks for the effort already. Maybe it's connected to to bios version of the travelmate. Do you test on an 8572? witch bios version?
I tested this issue on the following enviornment: + Acer TravelMate 8572 + BIOS V1.27 (I downloaded from Acer website) + Acer EasyPort IV easyport Model No. MS2248 + Ethernet: Broadcom BCM57760 Gigabit Ethernet I upgraded the BIOS before I start to do the bisect work, but, I pretty sure I can reproduce the ethernet problem on BIOS V1.27. I also sure the VGA port always works on my easyport, so I choice to trace the ethernet port's problem.
If I power of the laptop and then launch it, the external connectors are working. When the kernel is loading (at the height of hd graphics) the external connectors are dead.
I use Mandriva 2010.02 and everything was working (only disri till know). So yes, something has changed in the kernel, but what :)
I thought currently, the key point is I need reproduce it again on my side, then I can start to use git bisect to trace kernel patch. Do you have any good idea can reproduce it issue? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
