https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=698316 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=698316#c0 Summary: KDE connect to microsoft network drive is broken for many applications Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: a.johnw@yahoo.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux x86_64; U; en-GB) Presto/2.8.131 Version/11.10 While kwrite and maybe other k application can function normally in respect to files on a nas or server none kde application such as vlc and libre office can not. There are facilities within dot desktop files to allow this but they do not work. The main lacks are open or saving files on or to a nas or server. Click launches also have problems when the file is on the nas or server. Various back doors can be found that show that the paths to the server are fully functional eg drag drop a file on the server onto a vlc window and nothing happens. Create a desktop icon for vlc and drag the file onto that and it plays despite an error message from plasma shell stating it can't find the file. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Make a connection to a microscoft type network drive with dolphin. 2.Have a file say an odt on the server 3.Access and try and open it from within libre office etc. Try saving too. Actual Results: Get an error message "can only select local files". From the content of k##.so files this appears to be entirely down to kde. Expected Results: File handling with any app including the gimp, acrobat etc should be as normal. Making connection with dolphin is nice and easy but that's as far as it goes. Samba has exactly the same problems. I suspect kde has made a rod for it's own back in this area. The hole mentioned suggests that there are routes through the software that require yet another sticking plaster to disable it. There are probably more holes as well. It would be much better to just allow the dot desktop incantations to do their job. one would hope some one will let us know what these are if they ever do work. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
