https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=695326 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=695326#c0 Summary: firmware missing: 11.4 tumbleweed kernel 2.6.39-30-default: rtl_nic/rtl8168d-2.fw Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: haveaniceday@cv-sv.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.1.19) Gecko/20110420 SUSE/2.0.14-2.2 SeaMonkey/2.0.14 A start of the new 2.6.39 kernel ( tumbleweed ) reports a missing firmware: [ 35.229902] r8169 0000:03:00.0: eth0: unable to load firmware patch rtl_nic/rtl8168d-2.fw (-2) [ 35.237284] r8169 0000:03:00.0: eth0: link down [ 35.237293] r8169 0000:03:00.0: eth0: link down The nic work but I think kernel-firmware-20101214-2.2.noarch needs an update. Debian seems to have this piece of firmware in firmware-realtek_0.28_all.deb http://pkgs.org/download/debian-sid/debian-nonfree-i386/firmware-realtek_0.2... The NIC works also without the firmware. So the bug might have a lower priority.
