https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=694025 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=694025#c0 Summary: <forceboot> + <kernel> installs wrong kernel for stage2 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: AutoYaST AssignedTo: ug@novell.com ReportedBy: joschibrauchle@gmx.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/534.24 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/11.0.696.68 Safari/534.24 If one puts ------ <general> <mode> <forceboot config:type="boolean">true</forceboot> </mode> </general> ------ together with ------ <software> <!-- Use the DEFAULT instead of DESKTOP kernel for servers --> <kernel>kernel-default</kernel> </software> ------ into the Autoyast XML, the installation hangs during the reboot to stage2. The error message is: ------ mount: unknown filesystem type 'ext4' could not mount root filesystem ------ The problem seems to be that although one wants to install the "default" kernel flavor, the installation system reboots to stage2 using the "desktop" kernel (see grub menu screenshot). Thus, it is missing all/some kernel modules required to mount ext4 and possibly other things. Reproducible: Always Expected Results: The system should use the installed kernel (e.g. "default") to boot into stage2 instead of the "desktop" kernel. Then it would find all the required kernel modules. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
