https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=691484 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=691484#c0 Summary: Official Nvidia Binary Drivers Prevent KDE From Launching Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Factory Platform: PC OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: malv_star@hotmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0 After installing the latest Nvidia binary drivers from the official repository (currently 270.41.06), openSuSE was no longer able to start KDE (but only after rebooting several times). The system reaches the login screen, and after logging in, attempts to start KDE. However, the loading progress bar pauses at about 75% of the way across and never completes. You can however, still load failsafe (console) sessions and even launch applications from there, but the actual desktop doesn't complete loading. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Nvidia drivers from the official repository 2. Reboot several times 3. Attempt to log in as normal Actual Results: The KDE loading bar pauses about 75% of the way across the screen. Expected Results: Loaded the desktop environment normally. Talking on #suse irc with user Jolo, yielded his .xsession-errors file. It can be viewed here: http://pastebin.com/nNFVsuQ0 The final few lines indicate that klauncher was unable to communicate with one of the slaves in the slavepool. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
