--- Comment #31 from Joschi Brauchle 2011-04-19 09:59:36 UTC ---
Hello Egbert,
I agree, there seem to have been some issues mixed in this report. The original
problem I reported was about the bad EDID blocks being reported and causing the
screen to go blank once in a while.
I quoted the patch in comment #1 because the behavior I see is very similar so
the one described. I am aware that the hardware is different though.
I an certainly willing to help debugging the problem, as I have about 20
identically configured machines+monitors where this problem (will) occure(s).
(will because I have not updated all of them to 11.4 due to this issue)
One thing I think is interesting is that the repetition timeframe of the EDID
errors is mostly something around 22 minutes (when the machine is used). So
there seems to be a somewhat deterministic behavior here! Also, the EDID errors
are often times reported when the monitor needs to be woken up from sleep.
Are there any debug flags I could set to produce better logfiles?
Disabling modesetting (and thus the intel driver), repeated EDID polling or
disabling EDID completely as well as updating the intel driver are also not in
my interest :-)
Best regards and thanks for your help!
Joschi
