https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=688262 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=688262#c0 Summary: okular segfaults on computer that boots with "nomodeset" Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: nrickert@ameritech.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0 okular segfaults when starting up on one system, attempting to read a pdf file. The same pdf files can be read without problems on other systems. This appears to be related to my booting with "nomodeset" as a kernel parameter. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Click on a pdf file, or run the command "okular file.pdf" from an xterm 2. 3. Actual Results: The application starts then immediately crashes. A popup indicates a segfault. Expected Results: The application should have displayed the content of the PDF file. The particular computer freezes from time to time (video driver problems) - see bug 682528. I am running with "nomodeset" to avoid that freeze. I did try starting the computer without using "nomodeset", and okular works correctly that way. The KDE bug reporter complained about useless stack trace, and failed to find symbol packages to fix that. I cancelled out of the reporting. Note that a segfault often hints at a possible security problem. My temporary workaround is to install evince (which works fine). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
