Subject: Re: [Bug 682240] intellegacy driver causes X server segfaults
Stefan,
if you remember I initially packaged this driver, I'm not happy
because now neither the 2.9.1 nor the 2.14.0 driver work for me
on 11.4. The latter has (in combination with the current kernel)
introduced a new regression which randomly freezes my system
anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes after resuming,
there is nothing in the logs, no kernel panic and network and
magic sysrq are dead. Of course I can't even say for certain
whether this is a problem with the KMS code but it has always
been the cause of similar issues (mostly breaking resuming). The
main problem I had on oS 11.3 has apparently been fixed
(https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29839).
I suppose the chances getting this regression resolved for 11.4
are rather slim, I don't even know how to produce a useful bug
report out of this (if you have any idea I'm all ears).
On the other hand the problem with the "intellegacy" appears more
straightforward and like something I could look into myself with
a bit of assistance. Now given that I'm totally unfamiliar with
the codebase I'd really appreciate it if you or somebody else
from the xorg team could at least have a quick look at the
backtrace if there is anything that leaps to the eye (e.g an
interface change), I posted this including the backtrace on
opensuse-xorg last week.
Finally, what was the issue you mentioned in
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=671140#c5 and did
anything come out of that?
Thanks,
