Johannes, thanks for looking into this.
Something has changed, but I don't know what.
I repeated the procedure today in firefox - same problem. I then tried in
konqueror and this time it worked following the same steps! I then re-tried in
firefox, and the problem remained.
On a hunch I disabled all of my extensions (noscript, adblock plus, adblock
plus pop-up blocker) and tried again and this time CUPS interface behaved as
expected.
I then re-enabled the extensions one by one to see which one might be causing a
problem. The extensions are now all re-enabled and everything is working as it
should.
So all seems to be fine now - but this *was* a problem yesterday.
Very sorry for the "noise".
