https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=668202 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=668202#c0 Summary: [SMBTA] understand and implement Clustered Samba support Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Samba AssignedTo: hhetter@novell.com ReportedBy: hhetter@novell.com QAContact: samba-maintainers@SuSE.de CC: bgeuken@novell.com, mhaefner@novell.com, bbrunner@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- SMBTA shall support clustered Samba installations. When a file operation happens, it shall save the node id that actually did the writing. During last SNIA conference, I found there's a way to get this data from inside the VFS layer. This way it can be made visible how the cluster distributes load. This is a major change requiring changes in all components: - the VFS module has to be able to recognize nodes - the protocol has to be extended to contain node is in the common data block - smbtad and the database has to be adapted - smbtatools, specifically smbtaquery has to support it To begin with this, I would need a clustered Samba setup with virtual machines. Since Samba 3.6.0 is not yet locked down, I don't think a subversion increase of the protocol is required. We will care for versioning then 3.6.0 is released. This bug is not blocking any release tracker bug currently :) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
