https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=668186 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=668186#c0 Summary: Fan speed not being regulated, is either on or off Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mludvig@logix.net.nz QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b10) Gecko/20110121 Firefox/4.0b10 The fan in my HP Compaq 6715b laptop with "AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-64" CPU is either running on full speed or is off completely, nothing in between. With "ondemand" governor it's pretty annoying as it turns on for couple of seconds, off for one or two secs, then on again and off again, all that with a period in seconds. Before 11.4 M6 I used to have OpenSUSE 11.1 on this laptop and there the fan worked as expected - smoothly changing speed as needed. I haven't found a workaround. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Use OpenSUSE 11.4 M6 on HP Compaq 6715b ;-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
