Everything was going well, until the point that the machine had to reboot into the installed system to finish the configuration. At that point, the laptop's screen went blank. I could tell the machine had not crashed and accepted the keystrokes I entered, but the screen would not come up. The exact point that this happened was after the boot splash. Searching about this on the net, I read somewhere about kernel mode-setting problems on nvidia cards because of some outdated driver in the kernel, so I entered the nomodeset boot option and it worked. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start a standard desktop install 2. Reach the point after software installation, when the machine must reboot. 3. Machine reboots, initial kernel messages / splash appear, then the screen goes blank. Actual Results: The screen was blank, the computer was NOT crashed. Expected Results: The screen should not have gone blank.
